Heigh ho! Heigh ho! The top 10 is here to go (and perform)! DISNEY NIGHT!!

Judge Katy Perry was being very extra tonight and I loved it! She dressed up as Ursula from “The Little Mermaid.” The intro package to tonight’s episode where all 3 judges sang “Heigh Ho” was fun to watch.
Host Ryan Seacrest announced that the judges’ save was in play once again (more on that later in this post).
Actress Rebel Wilson of “Pitch Perfect” fame was the honorary mentor this week as the contestants got a treat/celebration gift of going to Disneyland!! It’s nice to see someone different mentor the contestants this week.
America gets to vote in real time all the way up to the final commercial break tonight as we get a double elimination (unless the judges unanimously save one guy/girl)
Up first tonight was Uché!
Uché — “I 2 I” from “A Goofy Movie”
I thought he kicked off the night with another entertaining performance. The judges weren’t familiar with the song. He got the dreaded first slot of the night, so it was going to be a tough hill to climb in terms of the vote. Sadly, America didn’t vote for him through to the top 8.
My initial prediction: In Jeopardy
Actual Result: Eliminated
Laci Kaye Booth — “I See The Light” from “Tangled”
Laci sang really good. I thought it was a peaceful and soothing song choice. The lighting design and stage effects with all the candles made for a pretty aesthetic. She looked like a Disney princess.
My initial prediction: Safe
Actual Result: Safe
Alejandro Aranda — “Remember Me” from “Coco”
Alejandro continued to experiment and changed the arrangement to the hit song from PIXAR’s “Coco.” I thought it was interesting to hear this song sung the way he did. It was a great acoustic performance overall. (SEE: Last year’s Michelle Sussett’s version too as another comparison at how different Alejandro did it)
My initial prediction: Safe
Actual Result: Safe
Alyssa Raghu — “Colors of the Wind” from “Pocahontas”
Alyssa continues to fight for her spot in this competition. It was nice to see her siblings all reunited with her @ Disneyland to celebrate her top 10 berth. I thought she did a good job tonight with that rendition of “Colors of the Wind.” The song choice saved her tonight I feel because America voted her into the top 8!
My prediction: In jeopardy (based on last week’s vote) but I hope she’s safe
Actual Result: Safe
LEA MICHELE + Top 10 Sing “Part of Your World” was magical to witness. Too bad it was so short-lived. Wish they got to squeeze in another Disney song.
Watch for the big high note near the end of the video clip!
Wade Cota — “You’ve Got A Friend In Me” from “Toy Story”
Wade made an excellent song choice that most viewers will relate and resonate to. I loved the added touch of “ANDY” written under his boot as he showed the camera during his performance. The judges enjoyed it and so did I! He definitely did Randy Newman proud with that performance.
My initial prediction: Safe
Actual Result: Safe
Dimitrius Graham — “You’ll Be In My Heart” from “Tarzan”
It was a very emotional performance for Dimitrius as he dedicated the song to his mom. He really connected to the song tonight. Katy had to run up on stage to console him after he sang the song. I truly thought he would be safe this week but America didn’t agree.
My initial prediction: Safe
Actual prediction: Eliminated
Walker Burroughs — “When She Loved Me” from “Toy Story 2”
Walker sang like a seasoned pro tonight! He continued to impress the judges tonight as he used a piano seamlessly for his performance. I think he has the potential to be the next American Idol.
My initial prediction: Safe
Actual Result: Safe
MADDIE POPPE AND CALEB LEE HUTCHINSON came back to sing “A Whole New World” from “Aladdin” and it was fun to watch! I thought it was a perfect song choice for last year’s winner and runner-up. The real life lovebirds showed true connection to the song tonight. I hope Idol continues to bring back past contestants in the coming weeks!
Madison VanDenburg — “How Far I’ll Go” from “Moana”
Another perfect out of this park performance for Madison. She’s still the leading girl in this competition in my opinion. Standing O from the judges!! Watch the clip above for that high note there at the end! This song definitely resonated with America as she makes the top 8!
My initial prediction: Safe
Actual Result: Safe
Laine Hardy — “Oo- De-Lally” from “Robin Hood”
I’ll admit I wasn’t familiar with this song. With that said, Laine still did a great job convincing me that he will be a successful country star in his post-Idol career. A good jam sesh on the guitar tonight! This is his niche and there’s nothing that will stop that as judge Lionel Ritchie calling it “straight down the alley” and a “perfect song!”
Luke thought he could well WIN the competition. He’s definitely the top guy in the competition as he was 1st to be saved into the top 8.
My initial prediction: Safe
Actual Result: Safe
Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon — “Candle On The Water” from “Pete’s Dragon”
Jeremiah got the coveted last spot of the night and did a solid job solidifying his spot into the top 8. It was nice to see Rebel Wilson and his sister watch him loosen up a bit during that pre-performance pre-taped package.
I still see him as a top 6 (or better) contender.
My initial prediction: Safe
Actual Result: Safe
Overall, Disney Night 2019 was enjoyable to watch. Eliminated tonight were
Uché and Dimitrius. The judges sadly did not use their one save of the season to save one of them. Time was cutting close as Lionel revealed that final verdict. Good luck to them in their post-Idol careers! I hope they get record deals and continue to entertain the world!
I look forward to seeing what the top 8 has in store next Sunday!
