‘AGT’ Season 14: Semifinals #2 (RECAP)

The second and final semifinals round of AGT aired last night and it proved to be another spectacular episode. The next 11 acts took to the stage in the hopes of getting one of the final 5 remaining spots in the grand finale airing next week! The one and only Queen Latifah joined the judges’ table to offer her comments about each act.

Here below are my initial predictions for each act. Actual results and my reactions to the results are in italics.

V. UNBEATABLE

V. Unbeatable came to play with their wild moves as the episode’s show opener! Love when they did the tricks on the ladder. With this performance they should be a lock into the finale but it’s hard to say considering they went first and so many other great acts followed them that were finale spot worthy too. So I will be putting them in the “In jeopardy” category.

Initial Prediction: In jeopardy
Actual Result: Safe

I was actually surprised they made it through when they got paired with Dom Chambers when awaiting their fate.

DOM CHAMBERS

Dom is such a showman when it comes to his beer magic. This time he made multiple glasses of beer disappear including one really big glass he called “mega beer.” I don’t know how he made that last one disappear but he definitely deserves to be in next week’s finals.

Initial Prediction: Safe
Actual Result: Eliminated

Sadly, no magicians in the finale this year. It’s a shame Dom didn’t make it to the finals. I wish him luck in his future endeavors.

LUKE ISLAM

Luke is destined for Broadway whether he wins or loses the competition. I thought he did a really good job singing “Never Enough” from The Greatest Showman.

Initial Prediction: In jeopardy
Actual Result: Eliminated

Luke has a very bright future and this elimination is definitely not indicative of what’s next for him.

LUKAS & FALCO

It wasn’t perfect but I still smiled at their performance. Falco accidentally stepped on Howie’s buzzer during the performance but Howie intended on pushing it anyways to Simon’s disagreement. Sadly, I don’t think they will make it to the finale even though I thought they still did a good job from an entertainment perspective.

Initial Prediction: In jeopardy
Actual Result: Eliminated

Unfortunately, Lukas and Falco will not be joining the finale next week. All the best to them! Keep entertaining audiences wherever you go next.

CHRIS KLÄFFORD

Chris sang an original song which was a big risk considering audiences have not heard this song before tonight. I don’t think it was enough to propel him to the finale but that doesn’t mean it was bad. I can envision his career will still be fruitful post-AGT.

Initial Prediction: In jeopardy
Actual Result: Eliminated

As predicted, Chris didn’t land a spot in the grand finale. Keep doing you and you will make a name for yourself.

DETROIT YOUTH CHOIR

Detroit Youth Choir picked a great song for their performance using Panic! At The Disco’s “High Hopes.” I loved their energy on stage. I hope they get to the finale.

Initial Prediction: Safe
Actual Result: Safe

Congrats DYC! You’ve made it to the finale! Here’s hoping you get more exposure and recognition with your finale performance next week!

ALEX DOWIS

Alex painted a beautiful story filled with light and darkness. You’ve got to appreciate his artistic skills and give him credit for working within such a small time frame. While I wish he’d make it to the finale, there are only 5 spots left. Sadly, I don’t think it will be enough to clinch that finale spot.

Initial Prediction: In jeopardy
Actual Result: Eliminated

He could’ve been saved by the judges there at the end but he couldn’t get the majority vote through. Best of luck Alex in your post-AGT life.

MARCIN PATRZALEK

Marcin deserves a finale spot! His guitar skills are A++++++++!!!!! He covered Ed Sheeran’s mega hit song, “Shape Of You” with such flair. I would love to see him collab with Ed one day.

Initial Prediction: Safe
Actual Result: Eliminated

Another act who I wished was safe… sadly Marcin didn’t quite make the cut. 😦

EMANNE BEASHA

Emanne sang beautifully tonight. It’s still hard to believe THAT voice comes out of a 10-year-old!!! I think she will be safely through to the finale!

Initial Prediction: Safe
Actual Result: Safe

Emanne won the judges vote after not receiving the majority vote in the Dunkin’ Save. Looks like she survives another week! Good luck in the finale Emanne!

RYAN NIEMILLER

You know you’ve landed a good joke when judge Howie Mandel laughs in the background which happened during Ryan’s performance. Look for him in the finale.

Initial Prediction: Safe
Actual Result: Safe

Expect more laughs next week and high energy because Ryan is SAFE!

VOICES OF SERVICE

Voices of Service sang OneRepublic’s “Choke” and it was very inspirational and cathartic to hear them sing this song. With so many great acts tonight and with only 5 spots to grab, I wish VOS got a finals spot. Sadly I don’t think they will get a spot.

Initial Prediction: In jeopardy
Actual Result: Safe

Since Dom and Marcin were eliminated, this act was the next best choice in my opinion. Congrats Voices of Service, we’ll see you in next week’s big finale!
