Happy Friday everyone! Welcome to the March 25, 2022 edition of New Music Friday! We’ve got the latest tunes from pop artist Tate McRae, country-pop musician Maren Morris, contemporary artists James Bay and Christina Perri plus rising singer-songwriter Francisco Martin!
Scroll on down to check them all out!

“chaotic” by Tate McRae
18-year-old singer-songwriter Tate McRae penned a really melancholic new single called “chaotic.” It’s the third official single off her upcoming untitled debut album due to release sometime this year and follows the release of her Billboard Hot 100 charting single, “she’s all I wanna be.”
The pains of growing older and adulting really resonates throughout the track. Overthinking things can really eat your mind out when it comes to your past, present & future!
In regards to the future, whether it be your next career move or your next relationship, you simply can’t predict what’s next and it’s quite exhausting. I feel that many listeners will relate to the chorus which McRae delivers so authentically on this piano ballad.
“Humble Quest” by Maren Morris
Country superstar, Maren Morris dropped her third studio album called Humble Quest. You can expect new tracks including the previously released singles, “Circles Around This Town,” “Background Music,” & “Nervous” on this record. All were written from the heart and showcase her amazing storytelling skills based on her own personal triumphs and challenges in life.
In this single of the same name as the album, Morris talks about finding balance and humility in life. Her vocals on this specific track blended so well with that drum and guitar melody. I loved how she wanted to tell the world that despite seemingly having it all together, even a famous musician like her at the end of the day is just like us ordinary people. She’s learning to stay humble, and not get over her head over the little things.
In the music video, we see the 31-year-old songstress vibing out with beautiful wardrobe choices by the shoreline, the hills, and more! I loved the grainy filter used to show that natural raw aesthetic. How about you?
“Give Me The Reason” by James Bay
Heartbroken listeners will want to hear this new song out by English musician, James Bay!
In this soulful vocal performance by the 31-year-old, we see him sing about a former lover who he seemingly hit it off with until one day she broke his heart. He pleads for her to give him one reason to try to stay together or else face the ultimate decision of breaking up and never seeing one another ever again. He doesn’t want it to come to the latter. This is definitely a tough crossroads moment to be in if you relate! I wish you all well if you do reconcile.
I loved that epic guitar solo around the three-minute mark by the way! Agreed? Comment below!
“evergone” by Christina Perri
This track will hit you right in the feels this week whether or not you’re a parent! The incomparable Christina Perri turned her personal tragedy of losing her second child, Rosie, due to pregnancy complications two years ago into a beautiful song.
This tender ballad serves as a healing anthem for all those parents out there who sadly faced a stillbirth or miscarriage.
The lyric, “no one is ever gone,” rings true because if they are loved and remembered, they will still exist in our hearts for all eternity.
Last fall, Perri honored Rosie with her own lullaby album titled, Songs For Rosie. Feel free to check that out here as well as Songs for Carmella: Lullabies & Sing-A-Longs, her companion record for her daughter who is now 3-years-old.
Look forward to the official music video of this single when it comes out on March 28th! See the teaser clip, here.
“Nobody Listens To Me!” by Francisco Martin
After weeks of teasing, American Idol season 18 alum, Francisco Martin has finally released “Nobody Listens To Me!” Sonically speaking this track is a departure from his first EP, Beautiful Ramblings of a Restless Mind.
In “NLTM!,” Martin highlights the frustrations of not being heard or not being appreciated by your peers/or family. You can really feel the catharsis as the song amps up by the chorus. I love how the beat drops at 0:35! The whole song gave me early 2000s punk rock vibes!! Let the head-bopping and screaming commence!
This single is just a taste of what’s to come for the 21-year-old singer-songwriter. He announced his next EP project, Manic will be dropping this summer on July 22nd! Check out the teaser here. Are you ready for more new songs? Do you think it will be a full-blown edgier rock EP or a mixed blend of genres? Comment below with your thoughts and predictions!
