New Music Friday 04.29.22

“Love Me More” by Sam Smith

๐Ÿฅฐ Sam Smith returns with a brand new self-love power anthem! They’re telling us to appreciate ourselves because we’re all unique beings on this planet. There’s no need to hate yourself or to pretend you have to be someone else.

๐Ÿ˜” If you’re feeling down or low on energy as of late, definitely play Smith’s new tune. It will remind you to ease off those negative thoughts circling your mind.

๐Ÿ”ผ Seems like Smith is learning to love their self more after coming from a personal down point in life. So life is trending towards the positive. Better social interactions, better mental health, and overall a better version of one’s self.

“Maybe You’re The Problem” by Ava Max

๐Ÿ”Š Popstar Ava Max also returns to the scene with her lead single off her forthcoming second studio album. This song has her standing up for herself against a toxic relationship. It gives a blunt wake-up call to those treating their relationship in such a crappy way. Hopefully, they will learn from their mistakes and start treating you better with respect and dignity. But if not, you can always dump them and move on.

๐ŸŽน I love this ’80s meets modern-day music hybrid sound with the synthesizers and her strong uptempo vocals!!

๐Ÿ•น๏ธ Also, I love the retro arcade aesthetic in the music video film (seen above) directed by the one and only Joseph Kahn. The famous Korean-American videographer has created music videos with a lot of talented artists throughout the years including Imagine Dragons’ “Thunder,” Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” & Max’s previous single “Torn” just to name a few.

“Summer In New York” by Sofi Tukker

๐Ÿ™๏ธ House music duo, Sofi Tukker released their latest album, Wet Tennis (acronym for When Everyone Tries To Evolve Nothing Negative Is Safe) today and this track really stands out as an unofficial song for New York City!

๐Ÿ˜ฎ I’m surprised as to how trendy “Tom’s Diner” has gotten as of late. Add them to the long list of artists that interpolated that iconic “da-da-da-da, da-da-da-da” part of the song into a new song. Catchy mix! I predict this song can be an early contender for “Song of the Summer 2022” already!

๐Ÿข Lots of iconic NY places got name dropped in the song namely Chinatown, Chrystie Street, Brooklyn, Brazilian restaurant, Miss Favela and tattoo shop, Bang Bang just to name a few!!!

“Right On Time” by Lindsay Ell

โŒ› This song by Canadian country singer-songwriter, Lindsay Ell, goes out to all the singletons out there who just haven’t found their one true love. You want to take things slower than what others consider the norm. In fact, you shouldn’t force yourself to be in a relationship just to satisfy other people’s desires. In due time, if the moment comes, then congrats! If it never happens, no worries, it shouldn’t be a make or break situation.

๐Ÿ™ This song doesn’t have to apply to a romantic relationship. It can definitely apply to just finding your next job or career path. It’s definitely reassuring of Ell to let us know that there’s a time and place for everything.

๐ŸŒŸ You may not find your answers right away, but eventually the golden opportunity will arise. Also blessings in disguise will come to fruition too. You can take a step back in order to leap ahead later down the line.

“In The Stars” by Benson Boone

๐Ÿ’” American Idol‘s Benson Boone created another tearjerker of a song. This follows his passionate ballads, “GHOST TOWN” and “ROOM FOR 2.” In this song, he’s really reeling in the emotions from being dumped.

๐Ÿ˜ญ So if you’ve experienced heartbreak or are doing so right this minute, then get into your feels and listen to this track! I hope it comforts you during this difficult time in your life.

๐ŸŒณ I believe Woods Creek Road’s popularity will now rise as a result of this song’s release. I also believe this new song will continue to propel Boone’s career. Expect the track to be used a lot on TikTok and Instagram Reels by celebrity influencers and his growing fanbase, the Booners!

Fun Fact: He’s on Dan Reynolds’ (frontman of Imagine Dragons) record label, Night Street Records.

Imagine they collaborate on a future song on each other’s future album. Thoughts? Share them with me in the comments below!
