“Hold Me Closer” by Elton John & Britney Spears

🍬 – Sir Elton John teams up with global pop icon Britney Spears to reimagine his 1972 classic, “Tiny Dancer.” In “Hold Me Closer,” we get to hear new verses with the original chorus packaged with a fresh new sound to it!

πŸ₯³ – It definitely gives party/club vibes in this iteration and I feel that many listeners will enjoy this version just as much as the original.

❀️ – It’s not the first time the 5x Grammy winner has worked with a mainstream pop artist. See his collaboration with Dua Lipa for “Cold Heart,” which has been a stable Billboard Hot 100 hit song for a year now! That official video has over 300 million hits and I can safely say “Hold Me Closer” will also have millions of hits in no time!

Do you love this version? Who do you want to see Elton collaborate with next? Comment below!

“I’m Good (Blue)” by David Guetta & Bebe Rexha

πŸ’™ – This collaboration between EDM hitmaker, David Guetta and pop star Bebe Rexha is infectious — you’ll love it! You might pause right from the start and think, “Hey, I remember that song!” they just sampled. For those wondering, it’s the Eiffel 65 hit, “Blue (Da Ba Dee)” from 1999! Times have changed and watching the original music video is a trip! Production values back then were so primitive and it’s funny watching it in 2022!

πŸ—£οΈ – In regards to this feel-good club/party single, Rexha’s vocals are a solid A++! I love how they matched the sample’s melody with her track. Guetta and Rexha have made that song popular again while at the same time have spawned a future hit song of their own! I hope we get an official music video for the song soon! How about you? Do you like this version? Voice your opinions below!

“Congrats” by LANY

πŸ‘πŸ‘ πŸŽ‰ – Want to get back at your ex and air out your grievances at the same time? Then listen to alt pop group LANY serve up snark and sarcasm in their new single “Congrats.”

🌟 – Love the addition of the GIFs/memes shown on the screen in the music video. Examples include rapper Drake getting off his seat to clap at a basketball game, actor Leonardo DiCaprio toasting his drink from The Great Gatsby, and pop icon Taylor Swift applauding.

πŸ”Š – Lead singer, Paul Jason Klein made another great jam to listen to! He has a knack for channeling heartbreak into anthems! My favorite moment was in that final chorus where he turns the intensity up a notch and the full band is playing! A burst of emotions right here! Overall, it’s always a treat whenever LANY drops a new song for the masses! Play it today!

“You Make Me Feel Like Like It’s Halloween” by Muse

πŸŽƒ – Spooky season has arrived early with this new single from rock band, Muse. It’s part of their ninth studio album, Will of the People — out now!

πŸ‘» – The lyrics are quite dark tbh as the theme of the song is about domestic abuse victims during the COVID-19 lockdown according to the notes on

🎼 – The instrumentation is phenomenal! Love the use of the organ on this track. Also, the guitar solo a little past the halfway mark is epic!

“Somethin’ Bout You” by Mickey Guyton

πŸ’ž – This last pick comes from rising country star, Mickey Guyton! This song is great to dedicate to your significant other or any special person in your life that has you enamored!

β˜€οΈ – Sonically, this is a very feel good, warm, bubbly track to listen to! Catch her Today Show performance as part of their summer Citi Concert Series, right here.

😎 – Did You Know? Florida Georgia Line’s Tyler Hubbard and acclaimed songwriter, David Garcia co-wrote the song!

Thanks for reading this week’s New Music Friday post here at Philip’s Music Corner! I hope you’ve enjoyed these picks! Feel free to share your opinions below!

‘Til next week, stay safe and happy listening! ☺️
