Happy NMF, on this Friday, January 13th, 2023! This week is a big week in new music for the likes of pop stars Miley Cyrus, Ava Max, fan-favorite rock group Paramore, electronic band M83, and last but not least rock band Pierce The Veil.
“Flowers” by Miley Cyrus
🌼 – “Flowers,” is the lead single from the 2x Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter’s forthcoming eighth studio album, Endless Summer Vacation, due to drop on March 10th!
💔🥰 – This is the perfect anthem for those moving on from a breakup. Sure, it was tough to handle the split, but now life is filled with new pathways and opportunities. In Miley’s case, she’s moved on from her relationship to actor, Liam Hemsworth. She doesn’t need his love anymore and can be independent and strong all by herself.
🌞 – I love how the music video just shows her having fun, soaking up the sun, exercising that self-care, and strutting around L.A.

“One Of Us” by Ava Max
💔 – Another heartbreak anthem for you to check out this week is from the one and only Ava Max! Her upcoming second studio album, Diamonds & Dancefloors is almost here (January 27th), and this next teased single, “One Of Us” follows the previously released singles, “Dancing’s Done,” “Weapons,” “Maybe You’re The Problem,” & “Million Dollar Baby.”
🎤 – This synthesizer-infused dance track will surely delight her fans and pop music lovers in general! Her vocals are impeccable especially in the passionate chorus section!
😢 – It’s a shame only one person wants to fight for the relationship to continue. If you see yourself in this situation, I wish you well moving forward. I send you hope and healing!

“C’est Comme Ça” by Paramore
🤷♀️🤷♂️✍ – “That’s just the way it is” is the official translation of this track’s title for those who wanted to know. Life tends to be unpredictable and even if moments are, you can’t have two days alike! I like how the “C’est Comme Ça”‘s are scribbled on top of one another. Describes the chaos in what life has to offer to each person on this planet! For Hayley Williams, she accepts the hustle and the bustle that life brings.
🎸 – Definitely a refreshing sound for Paramore and I appreciate them experimenting once more in this This Is Why era! The “na-na-na-na’s” are an earworm if I do say so myself! I love how parts of the song are recited like a spoken poetry session and parts are sung regularly. The instrumentation complements the vibes well all throughout.
📅 – Do you ever feel like a year’s time feels much shorter? Like you see yourself aging faster for some reason even though it’s been the same 365 days. Then…this song will resonate with you! Case in point: The pandemic and how already it’s 2023 and ever since 2020 started, the years seemingly have clicked on just like that. Where has the time gone!?! Lots has occurred in pop culture!

“Oceans Niagara” by M83
🔊 – Get ready for another colorful sonic journey by the French electronic artist, M83 a.k.a. Anthony Gonzalez! It’s their lead single off their forthcoming ninth studio album, Fantasy, dropping on March 17th!
🥰 – Love the creativity and the vibrant world he’s created so far for this new era! I expect the imagination to run wild in succeeding singles as we get closer to the album’s release!
🎧 – Headphones or earbuds are a definite recommendation when listening to a song like this one! You can close your eyes too as you mind wanders off, painting your own “fantasy” land!
Like the band says on their socials, “are you ready for an adventure?” Are you ready to see Anthony and his touring bandmates come back to perform in a city near you?
“Even When I’m Not With You” by Pierce The Veil
💞 – This latest single from rock band, Pierce The Veil illustrates the love and bond couples share despite the long distance apart. That could be due to a number of reasons, for example: careers
🏊♀️🏊♂️ – I like the usage of the synchronized swimmers in the music video. Their movements are slowed down to show the elegance and artistry involved. So even when there’s physical distance involved, the emotional connection couples have make it seems like you’re much much closer. Sonically, it’s a nice midtempo song that will calm your nerves. Vic Fuentes, lead vocalist of the group gave a nice heartfelt delivery of the track!
💿 – You can expect this track to be on their next album, The Jaws Of Life, which will drop February 10th!
