New Music Friday: May 22

New Music Friday has blessed us once again. Who’s dropping fresh new tracks this week? Well, I’ll tell ya! We got the latest from pop icons Lady Gaga w/ Ariana Grande, indie pop band Foster The People, the supremely talented Sia, San Franciscan rock band Train & Utahn rockers Neon Trees.

“Rain On Me” by Lady Gaga (with Ariana Grande)

This week’s first pick comes from none other than chart-topping, Grammy-winning musician Lady Gaga, whom in one week’s time will be releasing her sixth studio album, Chromatica to the world. She joined forces with the equally talented pop artist, Ariana Grande in a stunning uptempo dance song showcasing the power of persevering through challenging times.

Lady Gaga credits producer Bloodpop for encouraging her to see through this project even though she was experiencing a difficult time in her life that was filled with heavy alcohol drinking to help numb the pain and a ton of emotional and cathartic crying sessions.

In a recent Vulture article, Lady Gaga cited the song as “an analog of tears being the rain. And you know what it’s also a metaphor for, is the amount of drinking that I was doing to numb myself. I’d rather be dry. I’d rather not be drinking, but I haven’t died yet. I’m still alive. Rain on me. Okay, I’m going to keep on drinking. This song has many layers.”

From Ms. Grande’s perspective, she channeled her traumatic experiences of losing her ex-boyfriend, Mac Miller back in 2018 as well as the tragedy/terror attack that occurred at her Manchester Arena concert three years ago exactly to this date.

Together Grande and Lady Gaga have bonded over the past months drinking wine and eating pasta and have created this pump up jam that’s expected to be a song of the summer candidate this year.

“Lamb’s Wool” by Foster The People

For the second pick of the week, we have the sixth new single to drop post-Sacred Hearts Club era from Foster The People. From the trippy single artwork and visualizer to the layered sound of this track, it seemingly convinces me that lead singer Mark Foster has achieved another masterpiece.

I don’t know about you but this song is giving me Tame Impala vibes. It will make you escape the realities of today and melt the stresses of the day. You can just get lost listening to this song especially once that bridge part hits your ear where Foster’s smooth falsetto belts out:

Float into the endless night
Dust cradles our names
And all the things we ever cared for
To run again without the pain
To love you without being afraid
To fall into the flowers bloom, of the other side

I eagerly await a fourth studio album from the RIAA multi-Platinum certified band. I hope this and the previous five singles will be part of the next album. Either way, I’m encouraged by the evolution of sound they’ve taken since their 2011 smash debut album, Torches.

“Together” by Sia

9x- Grammy nominee Sia has released the lead single off her directorial-debut musical film, Music which is slated to be released in IMAX cinemas later this fall. She enlisted Maddie Ziegler once again for an entertaining and colorful dance video which features Ziegler’s co-stars Kate Hudson and Leslie Odom Jr. along with a children’s dance troupe. The video was shot all in one-take as directed by Sia herself. She really has a knack for directing.

Lyrically, its all about forgetting the past, loving yourself, and being hopeful and determined for a brighter future. Sonically, it’s an infectious, rousing anthem that’s sure to please fans around the world.

Did You Know? Singer-songwriter and producer Jack Antonoff produced this single. This is the second time he produced a song for her. The first being the song, “House On Fire.”

You can hear “Together” by Sia available now! Visit Sia’s official website for updates and more!

“Rescue Dog” by Train

File this under “feel-good Friday!” Train’s latest song was inspired by the incredible work that Beth and Howard Stern have been doing for many years which are fostering kittens, raising awareness about saving animals and finding them new forever homes.

The video for this single is inspiring, contains so many cute animals and overall just puts a smile on my face. Train is really doing a great thing as part of this project. Portions of the proceeds from this single will go to North Shore Animal League America. To learn more and to donate, please visit:

“New Best Friend” by Neon Trees

Indie pop-rockers Neon Trees have dropped their latest single, “New Best Friend” off their upcoming sixth studio album, I Can Feel You Forgetting Me releasing June 26th. It’s a very catchy tune that’s all about coming to terms with the new normal. Life changes numerous times so why not just embrace the fact that things can’t stay the same forever.

It’s been six years since their last album, Pop Psychology dropped. That album contained the RIAA Gold certified hit, “Sleeping With A Friend.”

Ten new songs including this song and the previously released single, Used To Like” will be part of the new record. I look forward to hearing the new album next month. The new era (first under their own label, Thrill Forever, LLC) looks promising so far. What are your thoughts? Share your comments below.

New Music Friday: December 27

Happy Friday everyone! Here are my top 5 songs to listen to this week.

“nasa – live” by Ariana Grande

This song along with 31 other songs are the live versions of her Sweetener World Tour set list. If you’re a fan of her work, you’ll enjoy this track which is a nod to the aeronautics agency of the same name. You’ll recognize the famous words said by Neil Armstrong on his famed lunar mission at the top of the track.

“¿ ” by Bring Me The Horizon (feat. Halsey)

If you’re a fan of Bring Me The Horizon, Halsey and or both, then you’re in luck because the alternative rock band is back with the drop of their surprise EP featuring a collab from the “Graveyard” pop singer.

It’s a very electronic sounding track with a catchy hook. Give it a listen along with the seven other experimental tracks from the EP with a very long name called Music to listen to ~dance to~blaze to~pray to~feed to~sleep to~talk to~grind to~trip to~breathe to~help to~hurt to~scroll to~roll to~love to~hate to~learn Too~plot to~play to~be to~feel to~breed to~sweat to~dream to~hide to~live to~die to~GO TO.

“Lost Again” by Mighty Oaks

Into something more folksy and easy to listen to, then check out “Lost Again” by this indie trio. I’ve never heard any of their works before today but I randomly played this track and I like their vibes. They have a similar sound to the Grammy nominated group, The Lumineers in my opinion. I think you would enjoy this track too! 🙂

“Somebody Loved” by Kina Grannis

A great song to de-stress to. Very soothing to listen to after a long day of work or travel.

“Alone, Pt. II” by Alan Walker & Ava Max

This upbeat track is perfect for single people around the world longing for a companion to come into their life. The Norwegian DJ picked a great collab in Ava Max whom is best known for her hit song, “Sweet But Psycho” for this track.
