It’s Friday which means another round of picks are here for you to check out! We’ve got brand new tunes from chart topping pop star The Weeknd, rising pop artist Luke Hemmings, Grammy-winning songwriter/producer FINNEAS, English artist 220 Kid & alternative pop band LANY & last but not least country singer Scotty McCreery! All that and more in this week’s mood edition blog…

“Take My Breath” by The Weeknd
π THE DAWN IS HERE!! A NEW ERA IS HERE! This is the first single to be released as part of his forthcoming untitled fifth studio album.
β οΈ WARNING: DO NOT WATCH THE VIDEO IF YOU HAVE EPILEPSY!!
IMAX theaters had to cancel their plans in airing the music video prior to The Suicide Squad movie due to the all the strobe lights. Read more here.
πΊπΌππ½ The 80s sounds and styles continue into this era it seems. A very danceable track that you’ll love to play on loop. I predict this will top the charts in no time!
β€οΈβπ₯ This song screams passionate fiery love in a relationship. But things take a twist in the video with long braided hair that will leave you π and π². I got femme fatale vibes from watching that moment unfold.
π€ I wonder if the plot will continue in his next single’s music video!?!
“Place In Me” by Luke Hemmings
π This song is for all those heart broken souls out there whom now realize they screwed things up big time in a relationship. It’s a very vulnerable track by Hemmings as he pleads for the girl he lost to give him a second chance. Whether he reunites or not, she will still have a place in his own heart.
π I love the space metaphor and the drone shots in the visualizer video seen above. As it goes further out into space, you can see the drifting and spatial distance be depicted in said broken relationship. I love how it transitioned from the drone looking down on Hemmings to the stars and galaxies starting @ 2:38.
π Love the song and it’s blue theme which represents that sadness one goes through post-breakup. Looking forward to the album release next week! How about you?
“A Concert Six Months From Now” by FINNEAS
ππ to FINNEAS signing with Interscope, the same label as his sister, Billie Eilish. His debut album, Optimist will be dropping October 15th!
π΅ That’s so cool he got to shoot the music video at the famed Hollywood Bowl. Said venue is referenced in the song’s first verse by the way.
π Shoutout to the song transitioning into a more rock like song @ 1:48! That part was my favorite!
π Heartbroken listeners will relate to this song the most especially if you’ve been heavily in your thoughts about your ex-lover lately. You want to suggest to her/him/them in getting back together and perhaps seeing a concert together with your shared favorite artist playing because you’re tired of calling your ex as an ex.
This just makes me miss attending concerts not going to lie! I’m sure you can relate to that aspect too! Hopefully you’re all able to see your favorite artists in concert again either later this year or next year. Get your FINNEAS tour tix + info, here.
“Stupid Feelings” by 220 Kid & LANY
π€ This song is for anyone who’s feeling frustrated with falling in and out of love so often! You don’t know how to feel and you’re left in a real funk in life or in a state of confusion for an extended period of time. π΅
π Hopefully you don’t feel cooped up in your house or apartment too long after your unfortunate break up.
π Big props to this collaboration between English record producer, 220 Kid and the Californian alternative group, LANY fronted by Paul Jason Klein. I love the vulnerability of the lyrics being matched with this electronic beat.
π₯³ Expect this track to be played in clubs and parties. I predict numerous remixes will get made by other well known and perhaps lesser known DJs.
“Same Truck” by Scotty McCreery
π From my interpretation, the notion of driving on two different roads yet driving the same truck can correlate to being human. We’re all unique with unique ideas, beliefs, and cultures yet at the end of the day, we’re still the same species.
Fun Fact: The truck seen in the video is the same one he received as part of his American Idol win a decade ago!
πΈ This video will inspire city folks to get out of town and sightsee the country rural areas. Once in awhile we need to get away from the noise and hustle and bustle of urban societies.
π£οΈ There are countless paths to take in life, so whatever road you choose to embark on, embrace it! If things don’t go to your liking, you can always regroup. You have the power to change things and move forward!
