Check out my corresponding emoji mood descriptions for each of Bastille’s baker’s dozen below!

“Distorted Light Beam”
You can see my previous coverage of this track from last summer, right here.
Additional Comments About The Song:
π΄π I still believe this song goes well on your nighttime playlists right before bed! It might very well influence your dreams tonight! #skysthelimit
So much can occur in our dreams, that’s for sure! The scenes and moments while we’re dreaming in REM sleep can bend, twist, and morph to our mind’s content. No two dreams will be exactly alike.
“Thelma + Louise”
πππ This song makes you want to escape reality but hopefully, without the tragic consequences the song’s title alludes to (see Thelma & Louise (1991.))
It also reminds me what the future may hold when everyone is going to the metaverse, living and planning our next move in the virtual world. Kind of scary not going to lie! What do you think?
“No Bad Days”
π― This song has many layers that will have you contemplating life in general most notably the notion of mortality and how life may seemingly be passing by us too quickly at times.
There’s also the fact that once we depart this planet, the pains we’ve felt during our lifetime will cease to exist as well. All of our personal troubles will fade away. But keep in mind, life is full of amazing things. So enjoy every minute of it! Savor all those precious family and friends moments!!
π₯ Did You Know? Lead singer Dan Smith’s beloved aunt passed in 2019 and this song was inspired by her.
“Brave New World – Interlude”
ππ» Beautiful strings! Not much else to say! I feel like this is the kind of song you need to play when you’re about to transition into a new chapter in your life.
“Back To The Future”
ποΈ Another classic movie is referenced in the album! This time it’s Back To The Future (1985.)
πΊ The vibes on this track: Sci-fi meets disco most notably at the top of the track.
π Wouldn’t it be cool to go back into your past to see your old self then come back to the future? We can all at least do that in our dreams! Such a thrill!! #letsallescape
πΊ Love the horn section in the bridge towards the outro section of the track!
“Plug In…”
π΅ Many will agree the current state of our world has us in a whiplash. This song must’ve been cathartic for the band to make. It encapsulates the craziness on our planet mixed in with the desire for hope and a glimmer of positive news.
π» Adding in the strings contributed to a cinematic feel! Do you agree?
“Promises”
π£οΈ Shoutout to British actor/rapper Riz Ahmed for supplying his vocals on this collaborative track. #transcendstime #transformativewords
“Shut Off The Lights”
π‘ Shut off those lights and embrace your soulmate! Hug your loved ones, friends, and your worries will melt away! I love this feel-good music video! I hope it puts you in a good mood too!
This video deserves way more views!!!
π to the elevator and workplace scenes. Also, that guy hugging the tree!
π· 2:48 SAX ALERT!!! This song is such a jam! Adding the sax is the cherry on this musical sundae!
“Stay Awake?”
π± This is a dating in the digital world anthem right here. Makes you wonder how consumed we’re all are on our phones and the relationships we’ve developed virtually.
Physical touch and physical relationships have taken on new meaning and shape these days.
“Give Me The Future”
π₯ I love the percussive bass of those drums! Got that commanding feel to it!
πΎ Add this to the future embracing playlist! If you want to immerse yourself in VR worlds, then this song will be enjoyable for you to hear! The imagination possibilities are seemingly endless!!
“Club 57”
π I love this uplifting banger!! Makes you motivated to create content for the world to see. That can be practically anything like making a portrait of someone or something (paint or photography), sculpture making, opening up your own business (physical store or online), or writing your own book of poetry just to name a few!
The whistling on this track is such an infectious effect! I’m pleased they added those whistles.
“Total Dissociation – Interlude”
βͺ Cool rewind sound added on this track which leads into the violins. Makes me nostalgic for VHS tapes. Remember that old piece of media technology? #ifeelold
“Future Holds”
ππ»ππ» We obsess so much about the future that we sometimes cause even more panic and anxiety. This track does the opposite! It quells those fears because, at the end of the day, we really can’t control the events of our future! Just live day by day and be present in the moment.
Love this as the final track of the album. It puts you at ease moving forward.
ππ Shoutout to the background choir on this song. That was executed perfectly!
