This week’s spotlight music pick goes to 5 Seconds of Summer lead vocalist, Luke Hemmings and his new single, “Shakes.” This vulnerable track will be part of his forthcoming EP, boy due to be released on April 26th!

💙🖤 0:05 A lot of dark blues and blacks going on in the color scheme. You can tell by the first bit of vocalization that it will be a soft and emotional track.
💭☔ 0:24 This song gives rainy day contemplative vibes.
🔔🎶 0:35 Business picks up as we get more bells and whistles to the layering of the song. Love it!
🙏 0:50 The song has evolved into an attention seeking lover who just wants to be accepted and appreciated. He begs for their love in the hopes they will answer the call.
😫 1:00 Self-doubt can bring you back down to Earth and hold you back from what you really want or from whom you’re destined to be with.
🦋 1:25 I love the use of the butterfly metaphor. They are indeed hard to catch with ease. They flutter in all sorts of directions and can illustrate a frustrating playing hard to get relationship.
😴🛌🤔 1:32 By not getting what you want in life, you often daydream or dream at night about potential scenarios that fit your wishes/ideal world.
😮 2:08 The repetition of the word “shake” just reverberates through your soul. Chills!
🥶🧊 2:30 Even more so in the bridge section! Chills to the max!
🥰 All I can say after hearing this song is that I’m excited to hear the rest of his heartfelt EP and that Hemmings has really matured as a solo artist. I applaud his efforts and willingness to be vulnerable for his listeners. I’m sure it will be healing for many!
